About this piece of art
Original, hand painted wooden lacquered trinket box. Made in the 1970s. This is a hand painted jewelry / trinket box with the three troika horses. Vintage condition. Traces of use and some damage to the black lacquer but the miniature is still nice.
About lacquer miniatures
Lacquer miniature technique came to Russia in the late 18th century. In the second quarter of the 19th century, snuff boxes, beads, chests and other products began to be decorated with picturesque miniatures made with oil paint in a classical pictorial way. Unlike the Western European lacquer miniature that started to decline in the early 19th century, Russian continues to be in production today.
